I have been a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2002 and have worked in the field of human services since 1990.  After obtaining a BA in philosophy from Boston College, I worked in community case management serving populations including people with HIV/AIDS and chronic mental illness. I became licensed as an RN in 1998 and worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings until earning a masters degree from the University of Washington in 2002.  As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have provided care in many settings including inpatient, outpatient, detox, emergency room, long term care, and private practice.  Helping people find the right medicine is very satisfying, but the best part of being a psychiatric nurse practitioner is forging relationships with patients over the course of time. It is truly a privilege to work in this role.
